If you often feel exhausted after becoming parents or notice that quality time with your partner has drastically diminished since having kids—you’re not alone. In fact, 67% of parents report a significant decrease in relationship satisfaction after the birth of their first child. Why is this happening? Millennial parents are the first generation raising children without the support of a “village” that previous generations relied on. Many of us move away from family for job opportunities, leaving us to raise children in isolated units, without the communal help that was once a given.
This is where ilo comes in. We create pockets of time for families where everyone is taken care of. Do we create those pockets in incredible, unique locations? Yes, yes, we do! Parents get to recharge and reconnect, while their little ones engage in enriching play and learning experiences. The result? You return to your children feeling rejuvenated and recharged, ready to give them the best of yourself.
ilo is more than just a getaway—it’s a self-care practice for the whole family. We believe in helping parents care for themselves so they can better care for their children. And when we talk about self-care, we mean it in a deep, intentional way.

Meet Maria, the founder of ilo
ilo was born out of lived experience, quite literally on the road. Founded by Maria, a mum to Benjamin and an expat who’s called many countries home over the past decade, ilo began as a response to her own challenges of traveling with a young child. When constant travel met new motherhood, she realized how little support existed for parents who wanted to experience new places without giving up their sense of adventure.
What started as a solution for one family has since evolved into a global community. To date, ilo has welcomed over 60 families from around the world to its getaways in 7 beautiful locations all designed to make travel with children feel effortless, joyful, and deeply restorative.
Our team is made up entirely of parents and professionals who understand what families truly need. Every detail from Montessori-inspired childcare to long, lazy communal dinners is designed with care, so parents can finally exhale and reconnect with what matters most.
